UI Shenanigans
I'm not happy with the UI library that I've been working with, Pico. Its promise was that it would be a single stylesheet that would get out of my way. I wouldn't get a perfect layout, but I'd get good enough to write some features. Maybe I'm just too picky, but it's too simple for me. People I respect are really seeming to like Tailwind, but that seems awfully low level to me. Now I'm looking at DaisyUI, built on Tailwind. I'm thinking that perhaps I can use the combination of these two tools in a CUBE CSS style, to work with CSS effectively, rather than against it.
I'm really liking Ant Design, maybe something to have a peek at?
Thanks for the suggestion! That looks like a really nice component library for React, and I'm using React. But I'm fairly sold on component systems not being the optimal way to do the full design, and I'm really liking the principles of CUBE CSS (https://cube.fyi). Tailwind can sometimes fit into the philosophy, but not other times. I think that I still have some features to prove out, so I'm going to go back to unsettled default browser CSS and prove those features. When I get to the design, I want it to be something that I'm really proud of, and I'm not proud of this work yet.
Nice, yeah sounds like you need a lot more control. I was happy to give up some control and not worry as much about design and implementation (I have a lot of complex components). Good luck, hope it works out with whatever you end up doing!

MarketingThere's so much interesting explanation I want to start getting out into the world. But I don't think the name Shiny Enigma is the right name to build a brand around. It was auto-generated by GitHub when I created the repository, and I just kinda built a temporary brand around it. But now I feel stuck, unable to write about it, because this isn't the name to share with people, isn't the brand to build up, isn't the domain to buy and point people to.

Elegance be gone... for now
DesignJust one day later, I'm neck deep in design. And it's a beautiful world, I love it. But its complex, and it's not yet the value that I'm trying to prove. I need to get back to the the ugly default UI for now, stripping out all the tailwind, DaisyUI, and everything else. I'll get there, I promise. Just not right now.

Shiny Enigma's Motivation
I want to see not only reasons, but how people are weighting them to come to their conclusions, and how different weightings of evidence should affect my confidence in my conclusions.
