Yeah, I'm a big fan - use it quite a bit to check out new products
I want to add charts to Product Cell, so people can analyze launch stats. Now I'm working on Upvotes/Comments day ratio. Would you want to see something else?
Would be really cool if the products of the day were already loaded in but I understand that might be hard due to rate limits potentially? Maybe they could be cached so when you load the page it shows everything? Would be quite cool to see a heatmap of what products most people click on too.
Heatmap sound cool Yep, there's problem with loading all at once, one problem is rate limits, the other is a lot of media at once (either images or gifs). There's approximately a thousand of cells :c
I'd go through them one by one but make sure you cache the info from each so when you try and fetch them next time just grab it from the cache. You can stagger the requests to deal with the rate limit of the API
The problem with images remains, like it's just a bad choice to show people hundreds of images/gifs from the start. Now they can just pick the days they want and they'd be pretty tired before it started hurting performance You're absolutely right about caching, I don't cache right now, because my request limit is very big, but it'd be nice to implement anyways What I'm sad about is that I can't get the data I want from Product Hunt's API. They don't expose people's data, there's also no way to get "freezed" product of the day. I only can get the most upvoted at the moment that were created after and before the dates I provide. It's not really the products of the day :c Thanks for the activity though! It's always cool when creators of community-based platforms care about audience. Ryan Hoover from Product Hunt does the same even after so many years
API is pretty limiting though, haha I'm trying hard to think of something interesting here but always stuck because of limits
